Gita Koifman hat sich ganz dem Dienst an Menschen verschrieben, die wie sie den Holocaust überlebt haben. Sie ist Vorsitzende des israelischen Verbands der Überlebenden von Konzentrationslagern und Ghettos. Ihre Familie wurde im Sommer 1941 vertrieben, als sie noch ein Baby war, und später in das Ghetto Osrinizi in Transnistrien deportiert.
